The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism elearning programme provides the health and care workforce with a comprehensive understanding of the needs for autistic people and people with a learning disability.

The engaging online elearning sessions allow service providers to ensure their employees receive the appropriate learning disability and autism training needed to provide safe, compassionate and informed care to autistic people and people with a learning disability.

The programme also includes a downloadable handbook that provides more detailed information, sources of support and helpful links to resources.

Available to health & care workers around the world, including the general health workforce, social care workforce, family, parent, sibling carers and personal assistants of people with a learning disability and autistic people, and anyone who requires a general awareness of people with a learning disability and autistic people.

PLEASE NOTE: –  The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism elearning programme is one part of programme offered to NHS staff, that includes live online sessions and face to face training (depending on the level being studied).  Whilst eIntegrity offers this elearning programme we cannot provide the live or face to face sessions.  However, this elearning programme represents an excellent, standalone programme dealing with the necessary topics.

Course Content

The content of the elearning programme is mapped to the Tier 1 learning outcomes of the Core Capabilities Framework for Supporting Autistic People and the Core Capabilities Framework for Supporting People with a Learning Disability.

The session covers an understanding of learning disability, understanding autism, communication and reasonable adjustments.

It should take approximatley 90 minutes to complete.

In order to receive a certificate for this elearning, we ask that you also complete both the pre- and post-elearning surveys. Each survey should take between 5–10 minutes to complete.

The programmes are high quality self-directed learning programmes.  They are designed to support training and CPD and are excellent resources alongside other traditional teaching methodologies.  They have been developed by the UK NHS for use in the NHS.  However, many of the programmes have international relevance, particularly the specialty training programmes which are often mapped to UK specialty training curricula.
