An opportunity to reflect on your current management of patients with type 2 diabetes. Update your knowledge about the range of glucose-lowering medicines available and their role in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. How can you improve the way you support your patients with type 2 diabetes to achieve good glycaemic control and optimise long-term health outcomes?

NEW: Express version requires only 5 episodes of care

Choose from:

  • Express version: 5 episodes of care (for up to 15 CPD credits) or
  • Standard version: 10 episodes of care (for up to 24 CPD credits)

You will be given the option to submit your data once 5 episodes of care are entered, or continue to 10 episodes of care.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this activity you should be able to:

  • Assess and recommend strategies to promote adherence to metformin and glucose-lowering medicines in people with type 2 diabetes.
  • Outline the role of add-on medicines to metformin in the context of the latest treatment recommendations for type 2 diabetes.
  • Support patients in the self-management of type 2 diabetes, including education about lifestyle modifications and ongoing monitoring.
  • Outline potential adverse effects of glucose-lowering medicines and recommend management options for adverse effects.
