INTERPRETATION OF CONE BEAM DATA SETS
This course is designed for practices who have their own CBVT unit or who wish to interpret CBVT data sets in order to improve their diagnostic skills. The course will cover the theory of CBVT, the applications of CBVT, 3D radiographic anatomy and interpretation of odontogenic pathology using CBVT data sets. Pathology of the para-nasal sinuses will also be covered in some detail. The practical component will demonstrate the use of a wide FOV CBVT unit and the use of various software programs used to manipulate CBVT data sets. The limitations of CBVT will be covered in some detail as they impact significantly on appropriate use and interpretation of cone beam data sets. The theory will be covered predominantly in the morning. In the afternoon session, delegates will work as individuals or in small groups, through a series of CB data sets and then the findings will be discussed. The course is NOT designed to turn dental operators into Oral radiologists, but to give them basic skills to review cone beam data sets so as not to miss significant pathology.

Attendees will need to bring their own laptop to the course.
CBCT COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. To improve the knowledge of dentists on the applications and limitations of CBVT
2. To improve the diagnostic and interpretation skills of dentists using CBVT data sets
3. To provide a greater understanding of CB imaging for OHTs and DAs who perform CB scans, including the appropriate format for secondary reconstructions
Prof Paul Monsour
BDSc, PhD, MDSc
Professor Paul Monsour graduated from the University of Queensland in 1978 with a BDSc (hons). He completed a PhD in Oral Biology in 1987 and a Masters degree in Oral Radiology & Pathology in 1991. Professor Monsour was the first registered specialist in Oral & Maxillofacial radiology working in full time private medical radiology practice in Australia. Professor Monsour lectures extensively throughout Australia on all aspects of DMF radiology. Appointed the Foundation Professor of DMFR at the University of Queensland in 2009. Paul is an associate member of the RANZCR and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists.
