Solo practice with registrar
Well managed clinic
Required Dates: 16 July – 3 August 2018 2 or 3 weeks
Practice Hours: Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
Fees: negotiable per session, travel expenses covered and high standard accommodation provided
Role: GP locum required to provide sessional care working alongside the registrar and nurse. Clinic is well established with a typical rural community. VMO work is negotiable.
Charlton Medical is a newly rebuilt solo practice with three consultation rooms. The doctor is supported by a practice nurse, receptionist and a part time Finance Officer. The clinic is very well equipped with an extensive range of diagnostic equipment for everyday general practice and procedural work can also be carried out. The clinic has visiting allied health professionals including physiotherapists, and Mental Health Counselling services.
The co-located Charlton hospital incorporates Emergency triage, and aged care facility. East Wimmera Health Service offer a range of Acute services across five campuses, providing 24-hour urgent care, resuscitation and limited stabilisation prior to transfer of patients to a larger hospital. Due to the large geographical distances and the nature of the injuries presenting have access to both Ambulance helicopter and a fixed wing air craft that rush patients to either a major regional hospital.
About Charlton: The small rural town of Charlton is situated between Wedderburn and Wycheproof, north-west of the city of Bendigo. Charlton and the surrounding district has a population of approximately 1200 residents . The commercial centre of Charlton is located on High Street and has a good range of food outlets and gift and clothing stores as well as a newsagent, two banks, two supermarkets, a second hand store and a hardware store.
The Avoca River flows right through the town centre and there are walking and cycling tracks and parks beside the river. 14km’s west of Charlton are the Wooroonook Lakes. They are surrounded by picnic grounds and offer swimming, fishing and boating.
Charlton also has an 18- hole winter golf course located 5 km from Charlton. Set in a landscape teeming with native flora and fauna, it is a pretty spot for a visit any time of year.
