Make Your Resume Stand Out !

If you are a Healthcare professional or ready to graduate from a health related degree or considering changing roles to take up new challenges it might be time to polish up that Resume. 

What you include on your resume matters. This is your first introduction to your prospective employer, and your resume should stand out. Be specific and descriptive about your education and your experience, and avoid being vague. If you are partnering with a recruitment firm, then your resume may be configured for you using your application, so be sure to spend adequate time on completing this.


  • Respond Directly to the Job Description. ...
  • Describe Accomplishments, Not Responsibilities. ...
  • Quantify Your Accomplishments. ...


Here’s some tips on preparing your resume:


  • Keep it simple and easy to read with a standard font
  • Be direct and concise, keep your sentences short (1-2 lines maximum).
  • Always check your spelling and grammar and have a someone proof-read it for you.


Always include: 


  • Contact Information
  • Ensure your personal contact information is correct and is clearly displayed at the top of your Resume. Contact information should include your name, location, email, and phone number.
  • Objective
  • Include an Objective statement. Note your preferred setting, population you have treated, and especially the strengths you have that relate to your career as a physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech language pathologist, or other allied healthcare professional.
  • Employment History
  • List each of your relevant jobs, in chronological order with your latest job first, with locations, dates, and responsibilities
  • Utilize bullet points to outline different responsibilities at each job. Describe your clinical experience. Include a description of work completed (observation vs. hands-on experience, setting, patient type, and any duties performed). Be detailed about any key achievements within the role.
  • Education
  • Include any tertiary training, trade certificate, degree / diploma or online course listing the most recent first. After these you can list any current licenses, Indemnity insurance details or if you are fluent in any languages. Include all certifications and awards first aid certificates or working with children checks are great to add in this section. 
  • References
  • Include the names and contact details (phone number and email address) of two people who have agreed to act as referees for you. Make sure you have their permission to include their details.
