ACLS Individual Subscriber Testimonial – 20/04/21

Christine McCracken - Registered Nurse - Clare, South Australia

"I can’t recommend ACLS highly enough!"

Christine, what were you looking for?

I had been working as a midwife and had moved to aged care. I needed to get up to speed quickly. I was very aware of my knowledge gaps across all aspects of contemporary aged care delivery. Aged care had been a passion in my early nursing career. I even won an award for aged care nursing!

How did Aged Care Learning Solutions meet your requirements?

Getting access was easy and all of the learning resources have been amazing. They have provided the information I was looking for across clinical care, person-centered care, and the systems and processes in aged care.

All of the learning activities are engaging and I love the interactions. The course style helped me to reflect on my own practice and seek out room for improvement.

Did you have any favourite learning activities?

Yes, I certainly did. The LGBTI Older People learning activity was beautifully done. The respect and consideration for gender equality was outstanding.

Quality Medication Management was also exceptional. It provided in-depth information on the complexity of medication management and the high-risk profile of frail older people for adverse reactions and side effects.

I also really enjoyed the ones that addressed the social and personal aspects of care and service delivery.

Would you recommend ACLS to others?

Absolutely! These learning resources will provide valuable CPD for all nurses. In hospital we care for older people all of the time and yet there is little specific education for the care of older people.

This education would be directly relevant for nurses working in acute care.  It prompts you to look beyond the clinical care to the rights and wants of each person, their life and life story.

I work now as a child and family nurse visiting people in their homes and my aged care knowledge and skills still get used. I can identify issues in older family members as part of my holistic care approach as many of my clients live in multigenerational households.
