What are the most severe Hydroxychloroquine negative side impacts?

Published By alice , 2 years ago

Hydroxychloroquine can be used to treat and stop malaria (a disease caused by parasites that get into the body through the mosquito's bite).

It's also used for treating certain autoimmune diseases like Rheumatoid and Lupus.

As of now, there is no guidance from this time. There is no recommendation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that recommends Hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus (COVID-19) only for patients taking part in an investigational research study.

It is part of a group of antimalarial medications. It kills specific types of parasites that trigger malaria or by inhibiting the functions in our body's immune system.

What is the essential information I must be aware of concerning Hydroxychloroquine?

It is not advised to take this medicine when your body is allergic to Hydroxychloroquine 200mg dosage or chloroquine.

High-dose or long-term use of Hydroxychloroquine could create irreparable damages to the retina (the membrane layer inside the eye that allows vision). The damage may cause long-term vision problems. The risk of damage to the retina is more significant in those with eye problems caused by kidney disease or those taking tamoxifen as an additional.

Contact your doctor if you were ever afflicted by:

·       Loss of vision and damages to the retina from the anti-malaria medication;

·       Heart disease, cardiac rhythm problems (such as those causing the QT syndrome);

·       Diabetes;

·       A stomach disorder;

·       The quinine allergy

·       Kidney or liver diseases;

·       Psoriasis;

·       Alcoholism

Ask your doctor whether you are pregnant or expecting or planning to become expecting. The likelihood of getting malaria is greater to cause serious health issues or the death of a pregnant woman. Being infected with malaria in pregnancy may increase the risk of miscarriage, stillbirth, preterm birth, and the baby's birth weight is not enough.

It's unknown if it could affect the child yet to be born. If you're expecting, talk to your physician about the risks of traveling to areas that have malaria-prone areas.

It is not advised to breastfeed while taking this medication. Consult your physician regarding any possible risks.

What can be potential adverse side effects of Hydroxychloroquine?

Get medical attention immediately if you are noticing warning signs of an allergic reaction (hives and breathing issues, and swelling of your face or throat) and an extreme reaction to your skin (fever and sore throat irritation and burns to the eyes and an ailment that's red or purple that peels off and blisters).

See a doctor immediately if you notice signs of a severe heart problem, like heartbeats that speed up or pounding, fluttering around your chest, breathlessness, and feeling suddenly dizzy (like you could faint).

See your doctor immediately if you suffer from any of the following:

·       Yellow eyes;

·       Hearing ringing is a problem for hearing

·       Strange mood shifts;

Dosing Hydroxychloroquine for a prolonged period or in large doses may result in irreparable harm to the retina in your eyes. Stop using Hydroxychloroquine and notify your doctor if you:
