This session will discuss the principles, practical application and various ways of exploring an individual’s preference when wanting to start or change their method of contraception.
Learning objectives
By the end of this session, learners will be able to:
- 3.2.1 Explore an individual’s preference for contraception
- 3.2.2 Conduct an effective consultation with an individual wishing to start or change her contraceptive method
Choosing a method of contraception can be difficult for an individual because there are several issues to consider, including side-effects and non-contraceptive benefits of the method, social and cultural issues, together with any future pregnancy plans.
