Depression

Depression continues to be under recognised and diagnosed in the community living older people and those living in residential aged care. Myths persist about depression, its impact and management options in older people amongst the general population and those providing care and services. Older men continue to be the highest cohort for completed suicides despite in many cases having contact with medical services. Depression aligns to Standard 3 of the Aged Care Quality Standards
