As a health care worker providing care or services to older people living in residential or home care you are required to practice in accordance with the requirements of the Aged Care Quality Standards.
This learning resource will also have relevance in all of other health care settings providing care or services to older people.

- Describe the rights of older people as members of society
- Define what is meant by rights and responsibilities in relation to residential and home care aged care services
- Apply your knowledge of rights and responsibilities when providing care or services
- State how to support and provide for dignity in care by:
- Upholding the right to independence
- Upholding the right to choice and decision making
- Support an older person receiving aged care services to make a complaint
- Outline the rules about security of tenure and service delivery
