This session will guide you through a consultation where you will manage a patient with signs of domestic violence.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • Define domestic violence
  • Apply the information to help you improve data gathering when dealing with domestic violence patients
  • Recognise the prevalence of domestic violence and question sensitively where this may be an issue

This session will provide you with an understanding of what is meant by domestic violence. It will give you the knowledge to manage patients holistically and confidently and enable you to direct domestic violence patients towards the appropriate support groups, helplines and local women groups. It will also familiarise you with the legal implications of domestic violence.
