This session will discuss the preventative and restorative approaches available for interproximal lesions.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session you will be able to:

  • State what preventative and/or restorative approaches are available
  • Explain each preventative regime
  • Explain the various restorative options
  • Assess when to apply a preventative or restorative approach

Before deciding on the clinical management of an individual patient with interproximal caries, one should assess the patients overall caries susceptibility to provide the most appropriate treatment modality.

Gurcharn graduated from the University of Birmingham and worked in general practice within the Midlands before completing his PhD in Dental Materials in 2008. He then worked as a Walport Clinical Fellow in oral surgery and restorative dentistry at Cardiff Dental School.

He is currently working as a StR in Restorative Dentistry at Cardiff Dental School.
