Talking Genomics: Tips and Tools for Communicating with Patients course for Allied Health
This session is designed to give healthcare professionals an overall awareness of some of the commonalties and differences of genomic medicine compared with other areas of healthcare.
Learning objectives
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- recognise the additional considerations that should be factored into conversations about genomics with patients and their families;
- provide examples of questions that patients may have about genomic medicine;
- understand the need to be mindful and adopt appropriate language if discussing genomic medicine; and
- describe some of the common misconceptions surrounding genomic medicine.
The session will also provide some useful tips and tools should you have to engage with patients and their families around this topic.
