Tooth Isolation course for Dental Practice
This session describes the purpose, value and clinical methodology of tooth isolation using the dental dam.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Explain why tooth isolation is required for root canal treatment
- List special considerations concerning tooth isolation
- Describe dental dam placement techniques
Clamps are available in different shapes and designs to cater for the isolation of different teeth, as well as clinician preference.
Before commencing this session you should have knowledge of:
- Basic tooth isolation equipment and procedures
Giampiero qualified as a dentist in 1996 from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in Italy. He obtained his MClinDent in Endodontology from UCL/Eastman Dental Institute in 2005 and his PhD From PUCRs in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 2013.
Giampiero has been dedicated to clinical practice, together with post-graduate education at UCL/Eastman Dental Institute and Warwick Dentistry. He is currently Associate Professor in Endodontics at The University of Adelaide, South Australia.
Esma is a specialist orthodontist and an honorary lecturer of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
