Multimodal Analgesia course

This session describes the rationale and application of using combinations of analgesic medicines.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Define multimodal analgesia
- Explain the rationale and principles of multimodal analgesia
- List the principles of the WHO analgesic ladder, its uses and controversies
- Summarize the steps within the WHO analgesic ladder
- Describe the treatment options for mild, moderate and severe pain in both adults and children in relation to the WHO analgesic ladder
Multimodal analgesia is a term that is generally used to describe the management of pain using a combination of analgesic drugs with differing pharmacological modes of action.
