As an added diagnostic tool the SIAscope is used to scan pigmented lesions which are suspicious of Melanoma. The SIAscope is a non invasive, fast and accurate way of determining the nature of pigmented lesions and stored the information for future comparison. This information ensures close surveillance of lesions eliminating the need for unnecessary removal. The key element of change in penetration of pigment alerts us to the need for removal. The SIAscope was originally developed and trialed in Britain and is now used globally. This centre is the first in South Australia to use this latest technology.
