The most popular and affluent suburbs of Ballarat include Lake Wendouree with a highly educated and mostly professional population, followed by Ballarat Central, Alfredton and Soldiers Hill.
It’s easy to get to the Central Highlands. Four rail corridors link the region to Adelaide, Melbourne, Geelong and Mildura and five major highways connect cities and agricultural centres, winding through mid-size towns, small hamlets and world-class tourist destinations including the spa-towns of Daylesford and Hepburn and the Pyrenees wine region.
