As Specialist General Surgeon you will be responsible for providing clinical care to patients, ensuring that the highest quality of care is delivered in the most professional and ethical manner. You will work within a varied caseload including trauma and must be proficient in scopes; GESA accreditation essential.
The Surgical Division has resident specialists in General Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery. As part of your role you will be involved in the 1:6 on call roster.
This tertiary teaching hospital holds over 360 beds and serves as the primary hospital for an estimated current population of 127,500. The hospital also serves as the referral hospital for rural and remote communities for the surrounding areas expanding the services area to 614,000 square kilometres.
The hospital has a wide range of specialist services in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Intensive Care and Coronary Care, acute medical and surgical, Rehabilitation, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Mental Health.
The hospital prides itself on looking after their staff. It offers staff accommodation on campus, from single air-conditioned units to four bedroom houses. In addition there are many sporting facilities you can use to keep fit and healthy including an air-conditioned gymnasium and squash courts, outdoor tennis courts and a sparkling 25-metre pool under shade cloth. There is also a comprehensive health library you can access with 10,000 books and 500 journal titles available. Medical data bases are networked throughout the Campus and there are Medline searching, reference and inter-library loans services as well.

To be successful in obtaining this position you must have FRACS and have current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
