About JAFA: JAFA is the primary organisation representing the children and young people with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) and Childhood Rheumatic Diseases (CRDs) and their families and carers in Australia. JIA is estimated to affect 6,000 -10,000 Australian children aged 0-16yrs making it similarly prevalent to childhood diabetes and epilepsy and six times more common than cystic fibrosis.

Why this role matters: Lack of awareness of JIA among primary health care professionals (PHCP), leads to late diagnosis with many children remaining undiagnosed for 12 months or longer and some having irreversible joint damage or vision loss at diagnosis. This role will be central to the successful design and delivery of the  program.  Working closely with the JAFA team and partner organisations (eg Australian Paediatric Rheumatology Group), the role will be pivotal to liaising and negotiating the content, and co-ordinating the delivery of the program with stakeholders and their associations such as the RACGP and primary health networks (PHN), and relevant health bureaucracies and jurisdictions.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Implement, manage and monitor the project to meet the requirements of the grant agreement
  • Track and report on all aspect of the project
  • Build effective relationships and partnerships with a range of stakeholders including expert clinicians, health care professionals and their associations and organisations; training bodies; government departments; third party vendors; JIA community members; relevant consumer organisations; and others to support the project

You will have:

  • A formal qualification in a health discipline or related area
  • A strong track record in implementing, delivering, monitoring, managing, evaluating and reporting on complex health projects, programs or services with multiple and diverse stakeholders
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Experience in clinical settings or programs involving primary care – especially GPs and primary health networks (PHN), would be an advantage
  • High-level organisational skills and proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities, meet deadlines, work within budgets and to scope
  • Experience in dissemination methods for priority populations groups including the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) community, First Nations health care workers and rural remote communities locations
  • Highly developed computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, Xero

Why work with JAFA? JAFA strives to be an innovative, agile, effective and influential force that is unwavering in its dedication to meeting the needs of children and young people with JIA and their families and carers.
