The ACN offers an online course called "Cellular Therapies" for nurses who are involved in the care of individuals receiving cellular therapies. This course explores current and emerging cellular therapies, with a focus on the immune system, bone marrow function, and the preparation for transplantation of cells. Students will also learn about the care requirements for individuals receiving autologous, allogeneic, and Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapies. The course covers legal and ethical considerations, as well as the psychological impacts of treatment.
The course aims to help students develop their critical thinking skills and provide holistic, person-centred care. The course consists of five themes: Bone marrow and the immune system, Cell source and preparation for transplant, Autologous transplant, Allogeneic transplant, and Immune Effector Cells. Students can study this course online and expect to spend approximately 150 hours on it. Upon completion, students will receive 6 credit points.
