Only About Kids Occupational Therapy

Are you looking for a positive and supportive work environment where your days are filled with laughter, learning, and making a real difference in the lives of children? We're on the lookout for a vibrant Occupational Therapist to join our awesome team here at OAK OT!

We believe in creating a workplace where positivity thrives, and where every member is valued, supported, and encouraged to be themselves (and of course maintaining a balanced lifestyle). If you're someone who is fun-loving, light-hearted, and passionate about helping children reach their full potential, you're exactly who we're looking for!

Don’t just take our word for it – here's what our current team say about working together:

🌟 Positive team culture: Everyone is always supportive of one another. We have lots of laughs and makes everyone feel appreciated and valued.

📚 Continuous learning: We are provided with a lot of opportunities for growth and development, whether it's through collaboration with peers, group supervision sessions, or mentoring opportunities.

🚀 Professional development: We can choose our own external courses to attend to, but also have regular speakers come in-house to present to us.

🎨 Regular culture days: We do regular fun activities as a team.

🔍 Client choice: We are given the option to choose the types of clients on our caseload.

🌍 Flexibility: We can work from different environments, whether it's in the office, at home, at a café or somewhere in between.

🤝 Director support: Our director is heavily involved and always available to offer support and answer questions.

The position

We have one full time/part time position available for an experienced therapist.

Assess, develop goals, and provide engaging and effective therapy intervention for children aged 0-12 years of age.

Collaborate closely with families, educators, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care and support for each client.

The OAK OT name is a symbol of the amazing process in which a seedling inside of an acorn flourish into the grand oak tree. We know that no two oak trees are the same, hence why we have a strong focus on providing individualised support for each team member. We are committed to ensuring our team members blossom in the same way, and with the appropriate guidance and support, flourish into incredible people and amazing OTs.

Features of the position and how this benefits you:

  • Steady caseload growth (this one has so many benefits) – this means you’ll have time and space to learn how we work, focus on developing your skills without feeling overwhelmed, additional time for co-working and supervision, and lots of asking questions. Most importantly, this means you’ll have time to create and maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle (and avoid burnout).
  • Minimal travel expectations – spend most of your working day in the clinic and combining your community visits, allowing you to focus more on your clients with less on commuting between.
  • Structured onboarding program – this ensures you’ll learn the ins and outs of what we do at OAK OT. This has a focus on supporting you with how you do your role, what you know and developing healthy habits for work-life balance.
  • Expert Leadership – our director has been a trained OT for over 10 years! This means you will have specific guidance and support from someone who has been there and understands all the questions, challenges and rewards that comes with being an OT.
  • Quarterly team days – this is in addition to your external PD budget. This means you’ll spend a few days with the team focusing on your own personal growth, mindset, clinical training, and team building.
  • Collaborative workspace – our office is a place where we can collaborate, ask questions, bounce ideas of one another, learn from one another, debrief with others who get it, and have a good laugh.
  • Administrative support – allowing you to concentrate on your clinical and client-based work.
  • Extra annual leave – this gives you more time to pursue your interests, travel, spend time with loved ones and recharge.
  • Birthday leave – take your birthday off with pay, because we believe special days should be celebrated!
  • Flexible hours – saying goodbye to the typical 9-5 means you can find the balance that works best for you.
  • Bonuses – in addition to being paid well above the award, you have the choice to increase your client hours to increase your take-home pay to recognise your hard work.
  • Paid AHPRA – we will cover the cost of your registration, leaving more money in your account to enjoy.
  • Prime location – we are directly across the road from a large shopping centre. This means you can grab your lunch, do some shopping and lots of local coffee shops within a few steps.

What we need from you:

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow.
  • All the usual paperwork like your degree, registration, WWC check, drivers’ licence, appropriate insurance etc.
  • Use a family-centred approach when working with families, during both individual and group sessions.
  • Have a sound understanding of sensory processing, play development, motor skills, emotional regulation, social development, and self-care tasks.
  • Share our OAK OT values throughout your work.
  • Work collaboratively and be a regular contributor to our team.
  • Have a strong understanding of neurodiversity affirming practice.
  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Pay close attention to detail and consistently produce high-quality work.
  • Provide supervision and mentoring to university students and early career professionals.
  • Have at least two years’ experience working in paediatrics and/or private practice.

If you're ready to be part of a team that values YOU, positivity, collaboration, growth, and making a difference, then we would love to chat with you.
