Description of the Job Role
- The Principal Clinical (Occupational Therapy) is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based therapeutic services to clients with a disability using a specialist approach to assist participants in building capacity and resilience.
- Key Responsibilities
- Provide evidence based, person centred occupational therapy assessment, management, and intervention to people with a cognitive, physical, or psychosocial disability in line with NDIS goals.
- Manage a caseload of NDIS participants in their natural settings who may present with increasing complexity, multiple co-morbidities, and functional limitations across multiple areas of their life.
- Assess the need for modifications to home and other environments accessed by people with a developmental, intellectual, or physical disability.
- Assess the equipment needs of NDIS participants in relation to daily activities including sleeping, sitting, safe transport, and personal care.
- Represent ClearSky and assigned NDIS participants at NDIS planning and associated meetings in matters associated with Occupational Therapy.
- Use occupation assessment checklist(s) and follow prescription requirements and processes when prescribing or recommending equipment.
- Provide a range of intervention strategies to address needs that relate to, activities of daily living, functional performance, fine motor skills, motor planning, sensory processing, perceptual motor, handling, and sensory integration of behavioural competencies.
- Provide detailed notes in the organisation’s CMS as necessary.
- Attend supervisions with the Senior Manager (Allied Health) on a regular basis and report on status of all allocated participants and any developments, exceptions or changes to the participant’s needs and practices.
- Undertake administrative tasks necessary to perform the role including maintaining appropriate documentation and systems to safeguard the wellbeing of the individuals supported and the interests of ClearSky.
- Attend and participate in ClearSky’s whiteboarding, general staff, and operational meetings.
- Perform all other duties as required.
Key Accountabilities
- Consistently meet billable hours targets in line with the role's measures of performance.
- Proactively contribute to the identification and conversion of new client referrals to support the organisation's growth targets.
- Attend community engagement activities that contribute to professional networking and organisational goals for industry representation.
- Maintain the highest standards of customer care to maximise client retention rates in line with staff measures of performance.
Key Attributes
- Hold a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Occupational Therapy.
- Previous experience in Occupational Therapy, preferably in a disability industry setting.
- Pre-existing registration with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills in complex human service issues and in developing policies, strategies, and solutions to address those issues.
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of legislation, policy, and practice in areas such as disability care, forensic disability, child protection or aged care.
- Demonstrated high-level communication, interpersonal, negotiation and personal presentation skills, particularly in relation to positively managing the interface between a commercial enterprise and various Government agencies.
- Demonstrated competence in the utilization of Microsoft Office Suite and associated computer applications.
- Hold current First Aid & CPR certificates.
- Hold a valid Australian driver’s license.
- Possession of or willingness to apply and qualify for a ‘Positive Notice for Child Related Employment’ (Blue Card).
- Possession of or willingness to apply and qualify for a ‘Positive Notice’ (Yellow Card) issued by Disability Services Queensland.
- Possess a ‘Proof of Vaccination’ for COVID-19 in accordance with ClearSky policy.
