The Role - full-time or part-time

Psychologists who are looking for that ‘next level’ in a private practice that thrives on providing holistic care, inside and out.

What makes this Job FANTASTIC for you!

This role offers you independence of practice while supported by sound processes and procedures and your own cheer squad of your colleagues who genuinely care about you and support you to do what you do best. It will allow you to holistically care for and support your clients while being supported to grow and thrive yourself. We want you to love working in private practice as much as we do.

Want to work with kids and young people? We’ve got you. Doing assessments excites you? Wow! Love it! Want to develop skills is working with groups? Yes, we’re in! Get immersed in processing and resolving trauma? That’s our jam too 😊 We want to work with you to grow and develop your area of interest.

Our Values and Philosophy (so you know who’s on this ride with you):

The goal of everyone at Sound Psychology is to provide sound, compassionate mental health care that acknowledges the uniqueness of everyone we see, taking into account their personal experiences, their view of the world, and the changes they want in their life. That’s a pretty big picture and we see ourselves as ‘puzzle makers’ helping our clients put the pieces together so that their life-puzzle begins to make sense for them.

We do this by empowering, supporting, growing, and developing our staff in ethical and professional practices, both psychological and business related. We aim to provide a clear career development pathway for all team members, supporting their learning and professional growth with a diverse referral base, ethical supervision, appropriate training, and professional development opportunities.

We do this within a culture that promotes both uniqueness and support for each other, one that is respectful and compassionate, and one that genuinely cares for each other and the work we do. Our values of Care and Compassion, Authenticity and Integrity, Service, and Best Practice, are underpinned by sound business and private practice principles, processes, and procedures – making the often-changeable climate of private practice less turbulent.

Our Vision (so you know the direction we’re all heading in 😊):

Sound Psychology’s vision is for all members of our community to be connected and thriving in their relationships, work, and life empowered by caring, individualised, responsive mental health services.

If this is the direction you want to be going in, then what follows will really interest you.

The Role - what you might want to know:

About us

Sound Psychology is an established business, now in its 7th year, although our Director and Principal Psychologist, Heather Cooke has been in private practice now for some 16 years. We pride ourselves on our integrity and ‘walking the talk’ – we don’t just say it, we do it – from our first contact with a client to how we connect with each other through to how our business operates.

Our practice is continuing to grow and adapt to socio-economic changes and the expectations and needs of our clients and referrers alike. There are exciting times ahead for private practice psychology and we’d love you to be a part of this growth.

Hear From the Team

We often have conversations amongst our team around why they love working here and how we can be consistently improving as a practice and team. Below is some feedback from some of our team members:

Chris, Psychologist: “I very quickly connected with the shared vision and direction of the practice, and it was amazing to see it shared not just with the clinical team but with everyone. Such incredible synergy in this office! I felt an instant connection not just to the approach to psychology that this practice encourages but also to the vision. It’s the kind of leadership that doesn’t just build careers but also nurtures souls.”

Veroncia, Psychologist: “The achievable work-life balance ensures you are genuinely supported in the early stage of your career. Sound Psychology provides a beautiful balance between autonomy and guidance. The genuine supportive team environment is the best part about Sound Psychology. There is a respect between all team members no matter your background, role, or experience. This fosters a culture in which you can be yourself, ask questions, make mistakes, learn, and grow. Self-care is genuinely promoted.”
