Designs of Two Hobart Dental Practices

Designs of Two Hobart Dental Practices

Published By HealthcareLink , 3 years ago

Nowadays, the inventive design has been an instrumental way to revert the white and dull dental clinics' image. It creates an inviting and warm ambiance for the patients and practitioners alike. Two dental clinics in Hobart—Kingston Beach Dental and Dental Pod—are the best examples.

Kingston Beach Dental

Dr. Martyn Sweet and his wife Felicity Sweet acquired Kingston Beach Dental in 2007; The two-chair dental clinic is located near a beach, giving its name. The two realised that expansion is needed to cater to more surgeries and attract more patients, so they find a new location that will meet their requirements.

Kingston Beach Dental is now located at the Channel Court Shopping Centre, an accessible site that is welcoming to patients due to its amenities. Dr. Sweet and his wife consulted with an architect. Drew Edwards, director of BYA Architects, designed the floor plan and the interior of the clinic.

Despite moving out from the older location, the two make sure they will maintain that relaxed beach feels. The new design features a sense of calm and privacy within a comfortable environment with natural light and views across all three zones—clinical, administrative, and public.

Edwards said that the clinical design of Kingston Beach Dental considers the patients. By securing a spacious lounge, patients won't have any triggers as they go with the dental consultation. Every feature of the clinic was carefully screened and monitored for the benefit of the customers.

Dr. Martyn and Felicity expressed their gratitude toward Edwards for helping them design and innovate their new practice.

Dental Pod

Dental Pod is owned and run by Dr. Matthew Clougher since 2019. The former owners, Dr. Dirk Jacobsen and his wife Laura, designed the Morrison & Breytenbach Architects practice to develop a spacious, well-lit, and airy space within the inner city Hobart.

Architect Yvette Breytenbach said that Jacobsen's sense was definite to their idea of having the practice premises. They wanted to be fit-out for the health and well-being of patients and staff. Breytenbach said that natural light effectively spread within the waiting area, giving high visibility from the street.

Dr. Clougher said that before purchasing Dental Pod, he went on looking and considering other practices. The facilities are very pleasing, and the combination of the contours and interiors evokes real warmth.

Breytenbach used a minimalist design to reduce clutter. The view across the street creates a sense of spaciousness. Dr. Clougher said that he enjoys the sight of Mt. Wellington in the reflection. Aside from the interiors and exteriors, Dr. Clougher commends the efficiently designed space that is quiet, discrete, and hygienic despite having all the suction and compressor units under the floor.
