Living as a medical and healthcare professional in Regional Queensland

Regional Queensland offers a diverse range of lifestyles if you’re looking to make a tree change or a tree change. From outback living through to rainforests and coastal cities, there’s a lot to be said for moving away from the big city to try something new.

The state of Queensland is 1.853 million square kilometres in size and spans 7,000 kilometres of coastline, making it Australia’s second-largest state.

Outside the capital of Brisbane, the next largest cities are the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Townsville, Cairns, Toowoomba, Mackay and Rockhampton – all with quite large populations of more than 60,000 people. These cities are quite cosmopolitan and offer many of the same opportunities you can find in a bigger city, without the big commute times or expensive property prices.  This includes sports facilities, good schools and universities, cultural precincts, quality restaurants, and more affordable housing.

There are many rural and remote communities in the state as well, offering a unique way of life.
